What should I post about? This is one of those topics we often tend to overthink, especially in the early days of building our online audience. The reality is… it’s absolutely unnecessary and in the time spent wondering you could be writing another post or two.

But if that’s something you are experiencing, I hear your pain and I’m here to make it a little easier for you. 🙂

If you want to get strategic about growing your personal brand on social media, here are 5 types of content you should include in your content strategy.

1. EDUCATIONAL

Teach your audience about your subject of expertise, speak out of experience and give them advice they can apply and get results with. Speak directly into their main problem, touch on their goals, pains, fears, so your ideal clients can feel that you understand them and be reassured that you have the solution to their problem.

2. SOCIAL PROOF

You’re the expert, why not display that by sharing some testimonials or success stories of your clients. This will help you built trust with your future clients and help them envision the transformation they can achieve as a result of working with you.

3. ENTERTAINING

Who doesn’t love to have a laugh? Isn’t that part of the reason we’re on social media in the fist place? This type of content is the perfect opportunity to show your personality and allow your followers to get a feeling of what it’s like to be working with you. 🙂

4. INSPIRATIONAL

This type of content is ‘evergreen’, and can keep your audience coming back for more, if it creates positive thoughts and emotions in them. Think about it… you’re having a long day, you’ve scrolled through enough educational content, but nothing can beat a good old inspirational quote – just what you needed!

5. PERSONAL STORY

Bring yourself on the stage and don’t shy away from showing who you are. People buy from people they know and whose story resonates with them. The more authentic and open you are, the easier it would be for your followers to relate to you and build that foundational connection.

*Bonus Tip: Always include a call to action (CTA). You don’t want to lose your audience while it’s still there.

My call to action to you is to simply think of 1-3 content ideas and then drop them to me in a message saying ‘CONTENT IDEAS’. I will then send you some tips back and brainstorm with you, so you can get the best out of your next piece of content.
